1974

Jim Severson Starts California Contractors

Founder Jim Severson started California Contractors in the San Fernando Valley with the mission of combining his skillset and passion for helping others to build a successful business.

1981

Centrex Is Incorporated

After relocating to the Pacific Northwest, Centrex Construction was officially incorporated and branded, and the Oregon-based company was born.

1980's

Centrex Hires Team

With the most notable project to date, the development of the Gresham Chrysler Building, Jim hired a team of crew members, who would be Centrex Construction's first employees.

1990

Centrex Opens Headquarters Building

By 1990, Centrex had moved out of residential construction and needed both warehouse and office space to accommodate the growing team.

1993

Love for Aviation Is Born

It wasn't until prompted by his son, Jimmy, in 1993, that the two took flying lessons together. This single invitation triggered the Severson Family's lifelong love for and investment in aviation.

1997

Centrex Builds First Aircraft Hangar

Centrex quickly developed a passion for the build & construction details of hangars. After building their first hangar in Aurora, Oregon, the team developed several hangars in the area, and business continued to grow.

2008

A True Family Business

Jim's sons, Tom (a recent college graduate) and Jimmy (a commercial pilot), join together to develop a business plan that will take Centrex into the future and officially join the team.

2009

The 30-Year-Old Start-Up

Following the recession, Centrex completed an impressive 70,000 square feet of hangar development in Oregon and began leaning more intentionally into the aviation sector.

2010

Reputation Leads to Big Break

Helicopter Transport Services (HTS) relocates its North American Headquarters to Aurora, Oregon, and Centrex secures the project due to its exceptional & prominent reputation in the aviation sector.

2014

New Centrex Leadership

Tom and Jimmy officially stepped into the ownership/leadership role of the company and built a plan to drive growth and success beyond their home territory.

2015

Centrex Acquires First National Client

Securing the partnership with Atlantic Aviation granted Centrex nationwide scale, enabling us to complete some of our most notable projects to date in Portland, Oregon and Las Vegas, Nevada.

2017

Liftoff for the Future of Centrex

With the passing of Jim Sr., team Centrex and the Severson leadership duo dedicate their time and focus to continuing the legacy and building on the brand their father created so many years ago, honoring his trademark gusto for life, aviation, and helping others.

2024

Fifty Years of Dedication

The team celebrates the company's 50th. Centrex develops nationwide operations and is recognized as one of the most notable aviation design and build companies.
